A showstopper in every sense of the word, Bumphead is one of the best loved female Bull Sharks visiting the Shark Reef Marine Reserve.  Her outgoing nature and her unique appearance make Bumphead a Shark Icon.

    Bumphead was first recorded on the SRMR in February of 2008.  She was named for her upturned snout which appears to be a permanent contusion.

    Bumphead is a mature shark of approximately 25 years of age and large at a length of over 3m.

  • Behavior

    Bumphead belongs to a tribe of specialized hand feeding bull sharks.  

    Bumphead is very comfortable around divers and will approach to make personal inspections.
